Every detail of construction is Reiterated exactly according to the plans the LORD had previously given His servant. Why was it so important to repeat these specifics?
I am a parent, and I can’t help but think of the times my children heard my own reiterations. What did I reiterate? My children repeatedly heard the particulars I believed to be essential and important, the specifics they should never forget, instructions that must be regarded.
As the only perfect Parent Who has ever existed, His Reiterations are essential, important and must be regarded.
Consider His Reiterations
Now Bezalel made:
- the ark (37:1); Reiterated from Exodus 25:10-11
- a gold molding for it (37:2); Reiterated from Exodus 25:11
- four rings of gold (37:3); Reiterated from Exodus 25:12
- poles to carry the ark (37:4-5); Reiterated from Exodus 25:13-14
- a mercy seat (37:6); Reiterated from Exodus 25:17
- two cherubim of gold (37:7); Reiterated from Exodus 25:18
- the table (37:10); Reiterated from Exodus 25:23
- a gold molding for it (37:11); Reiterated from Exodus 25:24-25
- a rim for it (37:12); Reiterated from Exodus 25:25
- four gold rings for it (37:13); Reiterated from Exodus 25:26
- the poles to carry the table (37:15); Reiterated from Exodus 25:27-28
- the utensils which were on the table (37:16); Reiterated from Exodus 25:29
- the lampstand of pure gold (37:17-22); Reiterated from Exodus 25:31-36
- seven lamps, snuffers and trays (37:23); Reiterated from Exodus 25:37-38
- the altar of incense (37:25); Reiterated from Exodus 30:1
- a gold molding for it all around (37:26); Reiterated from Exodus 30:3
- two golden rings for it (37:27); Reiterated from Exodus 30:4
- the poles to carry the altar of incense (37:27-28); Reiterated from Exodus 30:4-5
- the holy anointing oil and the pure, fragrant incense of spices (37:29); Reiterated from Exodus 30:22-25, 34-36
Lest we think this was needless repetition, bordering on redundancy, let us recognize His attributes revealed in His Reiterations; He was preparing His people to experience His Presence.
- His Reiterations reflected His Holiness. Because He is high and lifted up, set apart as Holy, His plans would greatly deter any thoughts of a casual approach to His Presence.
- His Reiterations demonstrated His Sovereignty. By His authority He would accomplish His plans, to be known by His people and to dwell among them.
- His Reiterations demonstrated His Patience. In His longsuffering He outlined and repeated His plans, emboldening His children to desire His Presence.
- His Reiterations demonstrated His Faithfulness. Because of His faithfulness He guaranteed His plans would be accomplished.
- His Reiterations strengthened the faith of His children. Faith and trust were strengthened through His Reiterations of His Holiness, Sovereignty, Patience and Faithfulness.
How should we respond to His Reiterations?
- When we experience His Reiterations of His Holiness, may we understand how far above us He truly is, and the amazing privilege He has granted us: the privilege of coming into His Presence! Let us come before Him in humility, reverence and awe.
- Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe, (Hebrews 12:28).
- When we experience His Reiterations of His Sovereignty, let us respond in unrestrained love, demonstrated in our faith and obedience, for His sovereign blessing of His Presence.
- Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him,” (John 14:23).
- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ… (Ephesians 1:3).
- When we experience His Reiterations of His Patience, let us respond in humble adoration and consuming passion for Him Who is longsuffering.
- Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him, (Isaiah 30:18).
- Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
- When we experience His Reiterations of His Faithfulness, let us respond in resounding gratitude and praise.
- Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations, (Psalm 100:4-5).
- Enter His gates with thanksgiving
- When we experience His Reiterations, let us respond in faith. He has proven to us His Holiness, Sovereignty, Patience and Faithfulness time and time again; we can hold fast to Him with unwavering faith.
- …let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; (Hebrews 10:22-23).
