Nehemiah 6 … Consider Him Who Supplies His Strength for Our Success

Originally posted: 7/07/2020

For all of them were trying to frighten us, thinking, “They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands, (6:9).

When progress happens, especially as a result of our obedience, the enemy will use any and every tactic available to thwart God’s will and work in our lives. And when we find ourselves facing off against a most unyielding and obstinate adversary, we must immediately turn to Him for His Strength.

The day of ultimate Success is coming, when He will vanquish every foe, but until then, we will be confronted with messages of discouragement. But God is faithful; and we have only to ask, and He has promised to Supply.

Consider Him Who Supplies His Strength for Our Success

How do we respond to Him Who Supplies His Strength for Our Success?

We have much to learn from Nehemiah. He was a man who continually, moment by moment, sought the mind of his God.

We too must seek His mind revealed in His Word, in dependence on His Holy Spirit, that we would perceive and live the truth of Him Who Supplies His Strength for Our Success.

Then I perceived that surely God had not sent him, but he uttered his prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. 13 He was hired for this reason, that I might become frightened and act accordingly and sin, so that they might have an evil report in order that they could reproach me, (6:12-13).

And finally, as we leave justice, judgment and vengeance in His hands, He will Supply His Strength for Our Success, that we may live in His peace to overcome evil with good.

Remember, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these works of theirs, and also Noadiah the prophetess and the rest of the prophets who were trying to frighten me, (6:14).

If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good, (Romans 12:18-21).
