Matthew 24 … Consider His Coming

Originally posted: 04/23/2019

As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? (24:3).

Before His Coming others will come: deceivers and false prophets; wars and rumors of war; famines; earthquakes; brutal persecution and killing of believers; the increase of wickedness; the love of many growing cold; the gospel preached to all nations; and the abomination of desolation, (24:4-15).

And behind His depiction of future events, He is preparing His own to live with this truth at the forefront of their every decision, action, and thought… be ready; He is Coming.

Consider His Coming

How do we respond to His Coming?

Such marvelous grace to prepare His own to live alert and ready, in confident assurance that all He has said will absolutely transpire.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away, (24:35).

Jesus continues His discourse of His Coming by asking His followers a question; and today, He asks us the same.

Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time?(24:45).

Oh, when He Comes, may we be found faithful and sensible in His service! May we daily seek to invite others to know Him, that they too be prepared and ready for His Coming.
