“You shall not… nor shall you profane the name of your God; I am the Lord,” (18:21).
Profane: characterized by irreverence or contempt for God or sacred principles or things; irreligious; not devoted to holy or religious purposes; unconsecrated; secular; to treat (something sacred) with abuse, irreverence, or contempt; to debase by a wrong, unworthy, or vulgar use.
God continues to command His people to live as set apart, as a kingdom representing a Holy God to all peoples; and blood would have a prominent and precisely regulated role. Continue reading

As we continue through Leviticus, it can overwhelm our underdeveloped understanding of the LORD’s ceremonial laws. We must continually remember the LORD was establishing a new nation, a new people called to worship and serve Him, the One True and Perfectly Holy God. Continue reading
