Happy New Year from The Planting Place!

In our preparations to begin the new year, may we never leave behind the focus of the Christmas Season: God sent His Son to earth to dwell among us.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Jesus, the Living Word, born to save us from our sins.

“She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

Jesus, the Living Word, born to adopt us as His children.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, John 1:12

Jesus, the Living Word, born to grant eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16

And it is by the Living Word of His gospel that we come to the knowledge of our need for spiritual rebirth.

for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter 1:23

Jesus, the Living Word prayed that His Truth preserved for us in His Holy Scriptures would set us apart for His purpose and glory.

Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. John 17:17

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 2 Timothy 3:16

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

We can and we must intentionally keep the focus of His birth alive in our hearts and lives. As we seek Him daily by faith and dependence upon His Holy Spirit, Jesus, the Living Word reveals Himself in the Holy Scriptures, His Living Word.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. John 6:63

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26

And in order to truly live…we need the Living Word and His Living Word every day!

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4
